Tumen Ekh: Music and Dance of Mongolia

Asia Society, New York NY. May 5, 2006.

Mongolia’s preeminent performing arts company leads you on a journey to the Mongolian Steppes. Celebrating 800 years since Genghis Khan founded the Mongolian empire, the singers, dancers and musicians of Tumen Ekh draw from the traditional life of nomads and their love of nature. The concert will feature the khoomii (throat singing), the morin khuur (horse head fiddle), and Tsaam (masked dance), traditionally part of annual Buddhist celebrations.

Co-presented with the Arts Council of Mongolia,
Arts Council of Mongolia-US, Indo-Mongolian Society and Mongol-American Cultural Association
